RVs Under Nevada Lemon Law

How Nevada Lemon Law applies to RVs — chassis only; motor home coaches typically not covered.

RV coverage under Nevada’s Lemon Law (§ 597.600) is limited to the chassis. The “motor home” coach (living area, appliances, water systems) is generally excluded. Magnuson-Moss + DTPA + UCC remain available for the coach.

What § 597.600 covers for RVs

  • Chassis — engine, transmission, drivetrain, brakes, steering, electrical.
  • Frame — structural defects affecting safe operation.

What § 597.600 typically does NOT cover

  • Coach / living area — bedroom, kitchen, bathroom, slide-outs, appliances.
  • House batteries (separate from chassis battery).
  • Water / sewer systems.
  • Generators.
  • Awnings, leveling jacks, hydraulics.

Alternative remedies for coach defects

For coach / motor home defects not covered by § 597.600:

  • Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act.
  • UCC § 104.2313 / § 104.2314 — express + implied warranties.
  • Nevada DTPA — deceptive practices.

Major RV manufacturers

Most RVs are manufactured in Indiana’s Elkhart County RV hub.

Nevada RV market

  • Las Vegas RV — major RV park destination.
  • Lake Mead / Hoover Dam RV travel.
  • Reno / Lake Tahoe RV travel.
  • Burning Man RV concentration (Black Rock Desert).

Chassis maker matters

  • Ford chassis (E-Series, Transit-based) — Ford is § 597.600 defendant.
  • Mercedes-Benz Sprinter chassis — Mercedes is defendant.
  • Ram ProMaster chassis — Stellantis is defendant.
  • Freightliner / Cummins chassis (Class A) — Daimler / Cummins is defendant.

Bottom line

RV coverage under § 597.600 is limited to the chassis. Coach defects require Magnuson-Moss, UCC, or DTPA.
