Senior Counsel Damaso W. Saavedra leads the practice with a concentration spanning corporate acquisitions, mergers and acquisitions, real estate transactions, business formation, and financing arrangements. Over his career, Mr. Saavedra has represented clients in approximately $7.2 billion in cumulative corporate and real estate transactions. His recent work includes lead transactional counsel on a $640 million Senior Syndicated Credit Facility with tax-exempt bond features and an additional $125 million future advance accordion for a privately held corporate conglomerate.

The firm's transactional practice encompasses general business formation—including corporations, limited liability companies, limited liability partnerships, and partnerships—as well as debt finance and refinancing strategies. Mr. Saavedra advises on real estate acquisitions, financing, sales, and dispositions involving residential properties, condominiums, cooperatives, and office buildings. He also guides clients through strategic real estate opportunities and complex commercial refinancings, including long-term leasehold and sublease financing arrangements.

A particular strength is the firm's experience with general aviation and fixed-base operations, where Mr. Saavedra represents clients in airport ground leases, ownership structures, and compliance with applicable aviation regulations. This specialized knowledge extends to the representation of domestic businesses in transactions with international components.

Saavedra-Goodwin serves as outside corporate counsel to U.S., European Union, Canadian, Caribbean, and Central and South American clients with transaction needs in the United States and abroad. The firm also has experience advising on trusts, probate, and estate litigation, with particular attention to fiduciary liability matters arising from breaches of duty.

Mr. Saavedra holds a Juris Doctor from George Washington University National Law Center and a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Connecticut. He is admitted to practice in Florida, Connecticut, and the District of Columbia. Beyond his legal practice, he has served as Secretary and Director for the Inter-American Businessmen Association and as a Staff Assistant for Congressman William Lehman.
